Mochi, the Smiling Kami of the Crescent Moon, was a powerful yet diminutive kami who attempted to manipulate Toshiro Umezawa, while secretly working with the Soratami to make them the dominant species in the plane Kamigawa.

History

Seeking to free himself by weakening the veil between worlds, his plans began when he aided the Soratami and Hisoka in Konda's quest for immortality and power by helping him obtain access to the spirit world; this action began the Kami War.[1]

Sixteen years later, he manipulated Princess Michiko Konda and the ronin Toshiro Umezawa into prolonging the conflict, but their distrust of him ultimately led to the end of his plans.

After Michiko and Kyodai defeated O-Kagachi and Konda, Mochi tried to gain their favor, but they in turn summoned Hidetsugu, who devoured him in vengeance for Kobo's death.
