Yahenni (Yuh-hen-nee)[1] was an aetherborn vampire from Avishkar who gained a reputation as an investor, philanthropist, socialite, and one of Ghirapur's most flamboyant figures. Knowing their naturally short life was drawing to an end,[2] Yahenni chose to spend their remaining days cultivating connections, throwing extravagant parties, and influencing the city’s shifting balance of power.
Description
Yahenni was famously well-connected and known for moving easily through Ghirapur’s intricate social circles. Though the claim that they knew everyone might be an exaggeration, their wide network of contacts and information brokers made them a sought-after figure for those navigating the city’s political currents. Yahenni was a master of both the physical and social geography of Ghirapur, always appearing wherever intrigue or excitement gathered. With a dramatic flair and an endless supply of charm, Yahenni spoke in flamboyant hyperbole and addressed everyone as “darling,” regardless of rank or allegiance.[3]
They dealt in information with an unmatched reputation for reliability, balancing connections between Consulate agents, renegade activists, inventors, and social elites alike. Their ability to maintain trust on all sides, even when interests conflicted, spoke to their finely honed sense for the delicate dance of city politics. Among their many pursuits, Yahenni ensured that they always knew about every noteworthy social gathering in Ghirapur — and they never failed to make an appearance in style. Naturally, Yahenni was an active member of the exclusive Prakhata Club, where only the best parties were worthy of their time.[3]
History
As an unusually gifted aetherborn, Yahenni possessed the rare vampiric ability to drain the vital essence of other living beings, an ability they used sparingly until faced with the reality of their approaching end. When Consulate enforcers threatened the city’s fragile balance, Yahenni chose to extend their life by absorbing the energy of a few of them,[4] and soon aligned themselves with the Renegades, aiding their cause during the revolution against the Consulate’s oppressive control.
Once the revolution ended and their purpose was fulfilled, Yahenni held what they called their “Penultimate Party,” a final gathering of friends, allies, and admirers. Surrounded by those who valued them not only for their information but for their exuberant spirit and unwavering generosity, Yahenni chose to meet their end on their terms.[5] Their legacy as a connector of people, champion of the Renegades, and icon of Ghirapur’s glittering social life lives on in the stories shared by those who called Yahenni “darling.”
