Ishikari Bindra was an inventor and aether specialist from Avishkar, and the creator of the Aetherspark.[1]

History

Ishikari fixated on creating an artificial planeswalker's spark to make interplanar travel possible for common people.[1] Her professors told her the theories she suggested spat upon physics, magic, and metamagic. Reading the writings of Rashmi, the inventor of the Planar Bridge, became an obsession, but even the famed inventor dismissed her idea.

Ishikari went ahead anyway and crafted her machine from whatever she could get her hands on.[1] It resembled a net of hollowed-out fish scales overlaid on one another. Though she originally had planned to use the net when Rashmi used the Planar Bridge again, she made use of the opportunity when the Phyrexians breached the Blind Eternities with Realmbreaker during the New Phyrexian Invasion. Her device had been meant to use the energy of a natural mage as its power source in addition to aether and she was not a mage. Although she successfully grabbed a piece of the Blind Eternities to create the Aetherspark, she died in the process.

Two years later, the Aetherspark was the prize in the second interplanar Ghirapur Grand Prix.[1]
