The New Culture Collective (NCC) is a political party on Avishkar (formerly Kaladesh).[1] They were formerly a rebel faction during the rule of the Consulate.
Description
The New Culture Collective is made up of engineers, students, laborers, intellectuals, couriers, aether smugglers, kinetic artists, pilots, and other misfits, revolutionaries, and radicals.[2][1] The collective was funded by thousands of small donors, and received both industry and black market partnership in running the Ghirapur Sprint. The Sprint was the Collective's most popular recruiting measure. Although the Sprint wasn't the only race that the NCC organized, it was its largest, most popular, and most dangerous.
History
The New Culture Collective first came together in Ghirapur, where the city's freedoms made a haven for radical cultural, artistic, and academic thought.[1] The NCC was initially a hotbed of revolutionary ideologies, with the Collective broadly adopting the position that what the Consulate prohibited, they should pursue. Their leaders issued statements, proclamations, and manifestos from anonymity, hidden behind masks and pseudonyms. They agitated among student groups, engineer councils, and factory floors to foment revolutionary fervor while evading the Consulate's enforcers. The Collective attacked both the plane's academic institutions and the repressive Consulate administration.
At the onset of the New Phyrexian Invasion, the NCC suspended its anti-government activities and shifted its focus to the defense of the plane.[1] After the Invasion, the Consulate was quickly and nearly bloodlessly toppled by the NCC and allied factions in the Indigo Revolution. The NCC has become a publicly celebrated and recognized political party that operates in the open, with a decent plurality of representative seats in the Avishkar Assembly.
