Lily, sometimes referred to as Lily the White, was a wizard from Dominaria. She was the wife of Gull and had two children with him.
Description
Lily had olive-dark skin and long raven-black hair, cut short at the sides with the rest braided down her back and twined with white ribbons.[1][2] She dressed in white gowns with yellow and blue piping, lending her the moniker of Lily the White, although she did accent her white clothing with wreaths of flowers in red, yellow, and blue.
History
Working for Towser
Lily was born in a seaport with the name Tirtha into an impoverished family of eleven.[2][3] Never having known her father, she was sold by her prostitute mother into prostitution herself.[4] In 4072 AR, she was supposedly hired by Towser to be in his harem, but in truth, he hired her because she showed magical potential. He discovered this by letting her hold an amulet that noticed any magic. After the destruction of White Ridge, Gull and Greensleeves joined Towser's caravan, and Gull fell in love with Lily. When Towser's convoy finally reached a coastal city, the three left his employment. However, the power-hungry wizard was scheming to steal Greensleeves' powers. He kidnapped the girls and teleported Gull to a remote tropical island. Just in time, Lily discovered her magical ability to summon Gull back.[5] Towser was defeated, and afterward Gull, along with Greensleeves, began to create an army to fight evil wizards.[4]
Wizard
Lily stayed by Gull's side, although she needed some space for some time while she was figuring out her powers. Her mana was linked to the clouds and the sky, and she tended to look up rather than down at the land when casting. From Chaney, she received a Dingus Egg, which helped her learn to teleport. She used this ability to bring a team to Benalia City to rescue Norreen from imprisonment and torture. She also learned to cast Jump, allowing herself and others to perform mighty leaps to get safely away from pursuers, as well as protection spells. Lily harnessed both blue and white and blue magic, tied to the air and the sky.[6]
Mother
Lily and Gull found their way back to each other after the rescue in Benalia and were married. Together, they had two daughters - Hyacinthe, with a flower name like her mother had taken, and Sweet, named after Gull's deceased mother, Bittersweet. She left her wizard potential alone while nurturing the two girls, although she stayed with Gull's wizard-hunting army. She was present for, but did not participate in, the Battle of Lat-Nam, which she and her husband and daughters survived.[7]
