Rise of the Skyclaves Healing of Zendikar Battle for Kaldheim

The Healing of Zendikar[1] was a magical event that took place in 4561 AR, during which the Lithoform Core was merged with the elemental magic of Zendikar by Nissa Revane, resulting in a massive surge of purifying energy that reshaped the local landscape, destroyed the Singing City, and accelerated the natural healing of the plane following the ravages of the Eldrazi.

Description

In the aftermath of the Battle for Zendikar and the fall of the Eldrazi titans, Zendikar remained unstable. The destruction wrought by the Eldrazi had disrupted leylines, devastated ecosystems, and left deep scars across the plane. The Lithoform Core, an ancient artifact believed to contain the power to rewrite natural laws, was discovered by Nahiri in the Murasa Skyclave, and she then traveled to the ruins of the Singing City — a site of intense leyline convergence and strange harmonic resonance to use it.[2]

Nahiri intended to use the Core to stabilize Zendikar by reshaping its leyline network, overriding its chaotic elemental nature. Her plan was opposed by Nissa Revane, who viewed Zendikar's wildness as intrinsic to its identity and feared the Core's power would sever its soul.

Jace Beleren and Akiri also traveled to the Singing City to locate Nahiri and the Core, hoping to mediate the growing conflict, though Akiri did not enter the ruins, leaving Jace alone with the city's maddening resonance. After confronting Nahiri in the city's depths, Jace was temporarily overcome by the ruins' song-mad cacophony, but escaped with a sound-canceling spell. He found Nissa and her elemental companion, Ashaya, who had come to stop Nahiri from activating the Core.[2]

Nissa destroyed the leyline focal point Nahiri had intended to use, hindering Nahiri's possibilities to use the core for full effect, but the conflict escalated. Nahiri and Jace were forced to retreat deeper into the city, pursued by enraged elementals. Nahiri fortified herself within the city using lithomancy to protect the Core. Jace infiltrated the city again and seized the artifact using illusions after disabling Nahiri with a psychic spell, but Ashaya intervened and returned the Core to Nissa.

Torn between destroying the artifact or trusting Jace's suggestion to bring it to Ravnica for study, Nissa hesitated. As Nahiri attacked again, the Core reached out to Nissa telepathically, revealing it was born from Zendikar itself and meant to restore what had been broken. Nissa allowed the Core to merge with her elemental connection, channeling its full power through herself and Ashaya.[1]

The resulting explosion obliterated the Singing City, leveled surrounding forests, and temporarily knocked out the elementals. However, the destruction was followed by an overwhelming surge of natural regrowth. Elementals awakened stronger, and life returned rapidly to dead regions. Even long-lost regions like Bala Ged began to regrow at an accelerated, magical pace.[1]

With the Lithoform Core inert and its purpose fulfilled, Nissa discarded it and departed, feeling renewed and at peace. Nahiri, furious at her failure and Jace's perceived betrayal, planeswalked away. Jace remained behind, reflecting on the consequences of his decisions and witnessing Zendikar's recovery firsthand.[1]
