Pili is a goblin scout who became part of Gideon's forces during the Battle for Zendikar.

Description

She moves at a surprising speed considering one of her back legs was damaged.

Battle for Zendikar

From the moment Gideon's healers fixed her up enough for her to regain consciousness, Pili was raving something about her friend, Leek, who was separated from her at Sea Gate. She was picked up by the Dojir Nomads on their way over from the Calcite Flats. Although they told Pili that Leek was most likely lost, she had it in her head that he would still be out there.

As Nissa was mourning the loss of her contact with the world-soul of Zendikar, Pili rushed by her at high speed, yelling repeatedly for Nissa to run, as a horde of lesser Eldrazi were following in the goblin's wake, but Nissa faced the creatures and, aided by Munda, killed them all.

Pili, meanwhile had rushed off to the ruins near Sea Gate and found the goblin hideout to be collapsed. Leek was one of three to have been crushed by a rockfall inside the ruin. She stood, sobbing when Nissa and Munda caught up to her. Nissa knelt at the goblin's side and rested her hand on Pili's heaving shoulder.

There were still living goblins trapped inside the broken refuge. Although it had almost completely caved in, there was still a large group of them trapped in the thinning air under the rubble.

With careful work and patience, Nissa and Munde cleared away the cave-in, and the goblins made their way out. Munda was pleased with the size of the goblin army they had uncovered, and as he helped arrange for the injured to be carried back to Sky Rock by the others, he told them of Commander-General Gideon Jura and the plan to reclaim Sea Gate. He had the attention of most in their numbers, but Pili sat off to the side, alone.

Nissa approached slowly and knelt at the goblin's side. For a long moment, they just sat there in the dark in silence. Then the goblin admitted she blamed herself for being too slow to save Leek, crying anew. Nissa hugged her around the shoulders and waited for this wave of grief to pass. Pili wiped her tears and told Nissa that she had known Leek was alive, even when others said he was gone. Her sorrow turned to vengeance, and she swore violent vengeance on the Eldrazi that had killed her friend, then stormed off to join Gideon.
