Devil's Breach is a fiery cave in the rocky hills of Kessig on Innistrad. It is known as a dwelling place for devils and a source of nightly raids that threaten the surrounding countryside.

Description

Far from towns and off the main roads, Devil's Breach lies in a rugged area where smoke, heat, and flickering light pour from the cave mouth. Travelers report hearing strange, eerie voices from within, and claim that the cave has grown wider since the Helvault was shattered. Gangs of devils now spill out of the Breach almost every night, attacking nearby farms and isolated travelers.

During the Travails, the devils created torch-lit, twisting paths through the surrounding woods, making the area even more dangerous. Inquisitor Verena, a Cathar originally from Avabruck, returned to Kessig from her training in Nephalia to help protect local villagers from werewolves, spirits, and the devils emerging from the Breach. Verena arrived with a company of Cathar soldiers but faced mistrust and fear from the people she was trying to protect. As monsters grew bolder after Avacyn's absence, the people blamed the cathars for failing to keep them safe. When the Lunarch Inquisition recalled the troop to Gavony, Verena defied her orders and stayed behind. She set up a camp near Devil's Breach, where she organized volunteer patrols of warriors and rangers to hunt the devils and stop their raids.[1]
