Kambal is a corrupt human who once oversaw the distribution of the aether on Kaladesh.[1] He exercised all the power necessary to maintain his dominion and his fortune. He was allied with Baral and Tezzeret when he kidnapped the best inventors from the Inventors' Fair.[2][3] He serves as the mayor of the city of Prosperity on Thunder Junction.[4]
History
From his estate high on the hill overlooking the docks, warehouses, and abandoned buildings that surround Gonti's Night Market, Kambal oversaw all that transpired in Bomat. Kambal was known for having one eye on everything and at least one finger in every pot, and he did not hesitate to exert whatever power was necessary to keep his grip on events in his domain, even if that meant transgressing the law he was supposed to enforce. As the Consul of Allocation, he supervised the distribution of aether throughout the city. But he had connections in the black market, had been known to dine with aether siphoners, and had even entertained Gonti and other aetherborn crime lords at his estate. He readily admitted that he owed his position and his power to his connections, at least to some extent, though he was not so quick to admit this fact to his fellow consuls of the Enlightened Keepers.[5]
After the revolt of the Renegades, Kambal was replaced by Pia Nalaar.[6]
Thunder Junction
Kambal found his way onto Thunder Junction through an Omenpath, joining the Sterling Company and becoming the corrupt mayor of Prosperity.[4]
