Khone (KOAN) is a swamp in Golthonor, on the Dominarian continent of Corondor.

Description

Khone is a kingdom in the northeastern part of the Great Sulgh Salt Marsh. Kanar was an archaic term referring to the Kingdom of Khone, but the term was eventually replaced by Khonian. Restless and hungry, this kingdom has remained in isolation for far too long, and the Keeper of House Jet is a fickle lord.[1]

Locations

  • Khone Keep - The castle of House Khone. Destroyed during the ancient war between Sol’Kanar and Sivitri Scarzam, but later rebuilt.
  • Valley of Sacrifice - Location where the Khonians gathered all promising spellcasters and forced them to survive using magic. The strongest of these Numbered Ones was sent to Sol'Kanar the Swamp King on the Date of Tribute.

History

Khone was once the name of an enchanted forest and the home of an ancient Force of Nature until it was twisted into a swamp by Geyadrone Dihada and its spirit was bound to her service as Sol'Kanar the Swamp King. In Khone lay the ancient city of Sedouris, but after five years of siege by Sol'Kanar, Dihada summoned a Cosmic Horror to eradicate the inhabitants of the city. The city then became known as "The Dead City", and became Dihada's lair, where she installed her walking crab-legged citadel.[2]

When Carth summoned Dakkon Blackblade to Sedouris, Dihada revealed herself, destroying the city as her citadel rose out of the ground. Khone then became the site of the two first battles of the Blackblade-Dihada War, resulting in the formation of the Dueling Chasm of Golthonor, and Dakkon regaining his shadow but also becoming enslaved to Dihada's will.[2]

Years later, Sol'Kanar, based out of Sulgh to the southwest, destroyed the trade route between the Contrary Kingdoms of Khone and Shikar and forced the inhabitants to send slaves and goods on the Date of Tribute. This lasted for years until the Dragon War forced the practice to come to an end. The young sorceress Chondaeh of Shikar caused the swamp to boil up around the Kingdom of Khone, killing everyone there, with Gydolien Mor as the only survivor. Greatly weakened by the loss of much of his magic, Sol'Kanar retreated into the swamp to bide his time.[2][3]

Millennia passed, and by 4196 AR, Khone had been rebuilt as a small realm ruled by House Jet, also known as House Khone. The Lord of House Khone, one of the few survivors of the Fall of Arathoxia, had but one guiding principle – don't get involved.[1]
