Mangara of Corondor (man-gah-rah[1]) was a human mage on Dominaria known for his peaceful nature and diplomatic skills. He was protected by Eskil the White.[2] Mangara's lifetime was longer than a normal human's, likely due to his magic, and he was already centuries old by the time the Mirage War started. [3]

History

Mangara spent many years living in the Region of the White Woods of Corondor, where he developed close a close alliance with the Quirion elves.[4] It is during this period of his life, prior to the Mirage War, that he was rumored to become a pupil of the planeswalker Eskil.

Mirage War

Mangara of Corondor

With his Quirion allies Mangara came to Jamuraa to research the events on Teferi's Isle. When he found nothing but barren rock, he joined the two other mages that had been attracted by the event, Kaervek and Jolrael, when they traveled back to the mainland of Zhalfir.

Mangara's brilliant diplomacy helped resolve the tensions between the nations of Zhalfir, Femeref, and Suq'Ata, which earned him the respect of the people and soon the control of all three countries.[5][4] Among other measures, he brought his elven allies to the Uktabi Jungle to achieve this peace. Ruling Zhalfir with an honest, pure hand, Mangara brought about a new age of equity, known as Mangara's Harmony.

Imprisonment

Kaervek immediately recognized the danger that Mangara represented to his plans of domination within Jamuraa. He began a campaign to twist Mangara's peace-making attempts into signs of a general amassing his army.[4] Kaervek's machinations ensnared Jolrael, whose time in the company of animals and free of human frailties like greed or ambition left her poorly prepared against manipulation. The two great mages took up arms against Mangara and ultimately trapped him in the Amber Prison.

Mangara spent the his time in the prison scrying Jamuraa, keeping an eye on Kaervek's deeds and his whereabouts.

Release

When Asmira and Rashida Scalebane freed him from the Amber, Mangara immediately took action. With the aid of his Quirion friends and the Mundungu of the Zhalfirin tomb-city of Aku, Mangara was able to turn the tide and trap Kaervek in the Prison.[6] He left Jamuraa soon after.

Time rifts

Mangara was one of the individuals brought to post-apocalyptic Dominaria through the time rifts.
