Forest is one of the five basic land types and provides green mana.
Description
Forests are needed to cast green spells.[1] There is also snow variant of the basic land, the Snow-Covered Forest.
Forests are traditionally defined as areas dominated by trees. In most arts and planes this is very distinct, with the only technicality that the vegetation depicted is not dense enough to be considered forests. Urbanized planes tend to depict Forests as botanical gardens or public parks rather than true forests.
Forest is the most often used basic land type since it has appeared twice outside of cycles:
- Dryad Arbor (Future Sight), which is also the only true land creature.
- Murmuring Bosk (Morningtide), which is also the only tri-colored tribal land.[2]
