Trennet was a vedalken wizard on Mirrodin.

Description

As a vedalken, Trennet had blue skin, a tall and slender build, and an air of intellectual superiority. His attire was typical of a mage, featuring robes adorned with arcane symbols and carrying tools or artifacts related to his mystical research. Trennet was highly ambitious, constantly striving for advancement and recognition within his society. His desire to achieve the rank of certarch and command his spire highlights his drive and determination.

Trennet displayed a strong competitive streak, especially when faced with the challenge posed by Sarja, a Neurok woman. His willingness to engage in a fierce competition for control of Research Spire Eleven underscores this trait. Trennet harbored a deep-seated resentment towards the Phyrexians for disrupting his plans and ambitions. He also exhibited pride and a sense of superiority, particularly towards humans, which quickly turned into animosity when Sarja mocked him.

Trennet demonstrated a strategic mind, crafting a complex plan involving the clone shell to outmaneuver his competition and the Phyrexians. His willingness to hide within his clone shell to surprise his foes showcases his cunning nature. Despite facing numerous setbacks and physical harm, Trennet remained focused on his goal and continued to fight for his ambitions, even when the odds were against him.

History

Before the Phyrexian invasion, Trennet was on the verge of significant career advancement, poised to become a certarch with his spire. However, the invasion disrupted these plans, filling him with frustration and resentment. Trennet witnessed the destruction caused by Phyrexians from afar, noting the severe damage to the spires and the high death toll among his people.

When Politus, the vedalken leader, sought volunteers to reclaim Research Spire Eleven from the Phyrexians, Trennet immediately volunteered, driven by the promise of control over the spire. Trennet's only competition for the mission was Sarja, a Neurok woman. Their initial meeting was contentious, with Sarja mocking him and deepening his animosity towards her. Trennet and Sarja both possessed clone shells, a powerful weapon made of quicksilver that could transform into formidable creatures. Trennet hid within his clone shell, planning to control Sarja's creature after it emerged to defeat the Phyrexians.

The battle was fierce. Trennet's clone shell was damaged by the Phyrexians, forcing him out of his protective shell. He fought valiantly with magic but was overwhelmed by the Phyrexian forces. Sarja's clone shell, instead of transforming into a powerful beast, was revealed to be another clone shell, creating an endless loop. This unexpected twist left Trennet vulnerable.

Trennet used his magic to control a Phyrexian drake-lord, turning it against the other Phyrexians. However, the drake broke free and attacked Trennet, nearly killing him. Sarja then revealed herself, killing the drake and forcing Trennet to concede the spire to her.

Although Trennet's physical injuries were healed, his pride was deeply wounded. Back in his small mage's tower, he watched Sarja take control of the spire and consider new ways to regain his status, focusing on reclaiming another spire.

It is unknown if Trennet survived the rest of the Phyrexian takeover of Mirrodin.
