Description
Reyana is a formidable Auriok woman, distinguished by her tall frame and expressive features. She exudes a stoic strength, often masking deeper vulnerabilities beneath a composed exterior. As a member of Neyali's resistance cell, Reyana assumes the role of rear guard, showing unwavering commitment and loyalty. Despite her resilience, Reyana harbors a complex and tumultuous history, marked by profound personal losses and a complicated relationship with her mother. Her recent encounter with her mother, now a Phyrexian aspirant, brings Reyana's inner conflicts to the forefront, revealing a woman grappling with her past, her present duties, and her yearning for peace.[1]
History
Reyana was a childhood friend of Neyali who as a child was beaten by her mother. As an adult, she served as her cell's rearguard and firebird keeper. When she found her mother compleated, now at peace, she began to question her decision to continue fighting in the wake of the Phyrexian massacre that decimated her village, Reyana wandered the ruins of Mirrex alone, seeking signs of other survivors. Neyali and her firebird Otharri eventually found and integrated Reyana into their resistance cell. Together, they forged a bond of trust and mutual reliance, even as they battled the relentless Phyrexian threat. Reyana's role as the rear guard was vital, protecting the group's retreat and ensuring their safety.[1]
Her past was shadowed by the trauma of her mother's abuse, driven by the latter's fears and torments. This strained relationship culminated in a harrowing encounter within the Quiet Furnace, where Reyana faced her mother, now a Phyrexian aspirant. The encounter shattered Reyana's resolve, leading her to abandon her weapons and succumb to despair. Neyali's intervention saved her physically, but the emotional scars remained.[1]
Haunted by the encounter, Reyana was torn between her duty to the resistance and her desire for the peace she saw in her mother's transformed state. This inner turmoil drove her to leave a note and disappear, prompting Neyali and the others to search for her. The search led them to the Salvage Complex, where Reyana's betrayal was revealed. She willingly sought Phyrexian compleation, yearning for the false peace promised by Slobad, the monstrous goblin Phyrexian.[1]
