Rafwyn "Raff" Capashen is a distant relative of Captain Gerrard Capashen. He became the ship's mage of Jhoira's crew on the rebuilt Skyship Weatherlight.
Description
Rafwyn is a young illusionist with unruly brown hair who has studied at the Tolarian Academy. He is the son of Aron Capashen, who was the head of the highest house of Benalia, and the younger brother of Danitha Capashen. Despite his noble heritage, he prefers to go by the name of "Raff".[1]
Raff is a gifted illusionist.[2]
History
Fully aware of the weight of his ancestor Gerrard's Legacy, Raff had chosen to prove himself worthy of the Capashen name by mastering the study of magic at the Tolarian Academy. Though he was still only 13 and a junior, second-level student at the academy at Tolaria West, he was also a skilled navigator and caught Jhoira's attention. He loved flying on the Skyship Weatherlight more than devoting time to his studies, and he secretly dreamed of honoring Gerrard's legacy by crewing the skyship with as much daring and panache as his ancestor did.[3]
Raff offered to join the Weatherlight after his sister Danitha refused that position.[4]
Dominaria United
In the two years since joining the crew, Raff has grown into the role of ship's mage, shedding his youthful boasting — but not his sense of humor. During the New Phyrexian invasion of Dominaria, he has helped his crew smuggle valuable information and supplies across Phyrexian-controlled territory.[2]
Raff healed Teferi of a grave wound inflicted during a Phyrexian attack in the watchtower of New Argive.[5] Raff, alongside Shanna Sisay and Tiana, helped to free Braids before their abandonment of the Weatherlight to its Phyrexian corruption.[6]
Raff fought in defense of Dominaria during New Phyrexia's Invasion of the Multiverse.[7][8]
