Clan Capashen, also called House Capashen was one of the seven ruling clans of Benalia on Dominaria.
Description
Clan Capashen can trace its roots back to ancient Sheoltun nobility.[1] Its current leader is Danitha Capashen.[2] The planeswalker Urza chose Clan Capashen to become part of his Bloodline Project, a large project of genetic engineering set up to create perfect warriors to fight off the Phyrexian Invasion.
Members
Known members of the clan include:
- Nathan Capashen - Leader of the clan. When Urza promised him 50 years of service for his clan by Karn he agreed to the marriage of his cousin Jaffry Capashen and Myrr Ortovi.[3]
- Steffan Capashen - father of Jaffry Capashen.[3]
- Thomas Capashen - He followed his father Nathan as the leader of Clan Capashen.[3]
- Jaffry Capashen and Myrr Ortovi - The first two Benalish people were involved in Urza’s bloodline projects. They had two children.[3]
- Purceon Capashen - Clan leader, a descendant of Nathan Capashen and Thomas Capashen. Appointed Ellyn Capashen as a soldier after she saved him from a Phyrexian attack.[3]
- Ellyn Capashen - Great-grandchild of Jaffry and Myrr. Originally a tax official, but after saving the life of Clan Leader Purceon Capashen, she joined the army.[3]
- Isarrk and Patrick - Isarrk was the illegitimate child of a Capashen noble, but his father died before it could be proven. Thus he was forced to remain a farmer for the rest of his life. He was trained by Lyanii but had no interest in being a warrior. Patrick was his son. When Isarrk was old they were attacked by Phyrexians and defeated them, but Patrick was wounded doing so.
- Rorry Capashen - Clan Leader and a descendant of Ellyn Capashen. He managed to get the help of Lyanii’s village of Devas against the Phyrexian raids on Benalia.[3]
- Gavvan Capashen - While powerful, his line couldn't grow any stronger and was unfit to wield the Legacy. Killed by Phyrexians.[3]
- Therri Capashen - Sister of Gavvan. A messenger/warrior who became the grandmother of Gerrard.[3]
- Gerrard Capashen - Hero of Dominaria.
- Raddeus Capashen - the Capashen Clan Chief at the start of the Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria. Killed by Tsabo Tavoc's minions.[4]Reanimated as a skeleton by Yawgmoth's Death Cloud.[5]
- Leda Capashen - wife of Raddeus. Killed by Tsabo Tavoc's minions.[4] Reanimated as a skeleton by Yawgmoth's Death Cloud.[5]
- Adom Capashen - A Benalish Commander during the Time Spiral crisis.
- Yedwin Capashen - author of Life of Gerrard, a reverent biography of the clan's great hero, written in 4532 AR.
- Aron Capashen - Clan leader and a distant relative of Gerrard. Father of Raff and Danitha. Compleated by Ertai and killed by Danitha.[2]
- Danitha Capashen - Current leader of the clan after her father's death.[2]
- Rafwyn Capashen - Tolarian prodigy and former navigator and ship's mage of the Skyship Weatherlight.
Trivia
- Michael Ryan created the name Capashen for the Weatherlight Saga as a riff on Capulet, Juliet’s family name in Shakespeare's “Romeo & Juliet”.[6]
