Arvad is a vampire, who once was a Benalish knight. He became security chief of Jhoira's crew on the rebuilt Skyship Weatherlight.
Description
Arvad is left-handed.[1]
History
Kazarov, a descendant of the notorious Sengir line, turned Arvad into a vampire. [2] Despite his undead nature and his overpowering need to feed on human blood, Arvad struggles to uphold the ideals of a Benalish knight and fight for good in the world. As chief of security aboard the Weatherlight, he swore himself to Jhoira's service before his transformation, and he has every intention of honoring that oath even as a vampire. [3] The holy magic of the Serra's Realm infused Powerstone allows him to move in sunlight and suppresses his hunger, but he still requires blood on occasion. [4][5] So far, he has managed to feed without violating his ideals, but his greatest fear is that his hunger will one day gain control of him. [3]
After Arvad was magically compulsed to travel to the Weatherlight 's construction site, he helped Tiana defend the ship against the attack of a Bogardan phoenix.[5] The angel introduced Arvad to Jhoira, after which he swore allegiance to the captain.[6]
During the Second Phyrexian Invasion, Arvad was left in charge of the Weatherlight on Otaria while Tiana, Shanna, and Raff searched for spare parts. Unfortunately, he was unable to prevent the ship's Compleation.[7]
