Magic: The Gathering Arena/Preconstructed decks
There are several different types of Preconstructed decks that are featured in Magic: The Gathering Arena. Some, like the Color Challenge and Starter decks are always able to be played, while others are only available for particular events or able to be purchased from the store for a limited period.
Color Challenge decks
Five monocolored preconstructed decks are unlocked on Magic Arena after a new player completes the tutorial. These can then be upgraded by completing the new player Color Challenges.

Other Preconstructed decks
Brawl events
The Brawl format, in both Standard and Historic forms, is a common subject of events on Arena.
Feldon's Workshop
A predecessor to both FNM at Home and Midweek Magic, Feldon's Workshop ran between February and July 2020.[5][6] It showcased decks from many formats, including Standard, Brawl, successful Draft decks, as well as other more novel or unusual events.
Friday Night Magic at Home
The predecessor of Midweek Magic, there were a number of phantom preconstructed events as part of the FNM at Home series.
Gladiator
A community run singleton format, there have been two preconstructed Gladiator spotlights on Arena.
Into the Future
A series of events for Midweek Magic which highlight new cards after each new Alchemy release.
Mastermind
This was a format used for four events during 2020. Players started with an emblem in play which allowed them to discard one card at sorcery speed to make a land token. This land token could tap for any color of mana.
Midweek Magic
A weekly series of events which regularly has phantom preconstructed decks as part of its offerings.
Omniscience
Events are commonly run which have both players start with an Omniscience emblem. These can be either Limited or phantom preconstructed.
One time events
- The Game Awards After Party event
- Thassa’s Briny Bounty
- Festival of Adventure: Zendikar World Tour
- Tales of Kaldheim
- Festival: Harvest Fair
- Sparky Day 2025: Planeswalker Party!
Promotional decks
The following decks were able to be unlocked:
- Critter Corps was redeemable from a code included with Welcome Boosters starting from Core Set 2021

- Vivien's Hunt was redeemable from a code from the Hot Pockets crossover.
Purchasable decks
In August 2024, the Arena store began selling whole Standard and Brawl decks for purchase using gems. The system used an algorithm that reduced the gem cost of the decks for each card the player already owns. Later releases would also offer preconstructed Historic or Explorer decks.
Showcase events
A reoccurring series of events, often as part of Midweek Magic, which highlight different competitive formats.
Story decks
Story decks were released on Arena for The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, Wilds of Eldraine, Lost Caverns of Ixalan, and Murders at Karlov Manor. They were 60 card preconstructed decks which consisted of only cards from that set, which were intended to highlight an aspect of the storyline of that set.
Yargle Day!
Yargle Day is a commemorative day observed annually on September 3 to celebrate the printing of Yargle, Glutton of Urborg (Dominaria) and its subsequent elevation to internet meme. The date is representative of Yargle's power and toughness in middle-endian date systems.
