Color Challenge
Five monocolored preconstructed decks are unlocked on Magic Arena after a new player completes the tutorial. These can then be upgraded by completing the new player Color Challenges. Cards that are replaced through these upgrades are automatically moved to the sideboard.
After completing the Color Challenges, a new player will move onto two-color Starter decks.
The Color Challenges replaced the previous Account Mastery and New Player Experience systems, which both consisted of a similar set of monocolor decks.
Color Challenge decks
In August 2020, Magic: The Gathering Arena introduced new player decks. Unlike previous versions, the monocolored decks that each player received after the tutorial matches were designed to stay rotation-proof beyond Standard 2021. The Arena Base Set was created for this exact purpose.[1] The decks incorporated several MTG Arena-exclusive digital cards that had been created in July 2018 to facilitate the creation of the New Player Experience (NPE).
