In August 2020, Magic: The Gathering Arena introduced new new player decks. Unlike previous versions, the monocolored decks that each player received after the tutorial matches were designed to stay rotation-proof beyond Standard 2021. The Arena Base Set was created for this exact purpose.[2] The decks incorporated several MTG Arena-exclusive digital cards that had been created in July 2018 to facilitate the creation of the New Player Experience (NPE).
In March 2022, the Arena Base Set was removed from Bo1 Standard. From that moment on, the cards (and thus the monocolored decks) were only legal in digital formats like Alchemy and Historic.[3]During Bot Matches, Sparky uses these decks.
