Halimar, also called the Inland Sea, is a huge artificial sea on the continent of Tazeem on Zendikar.[1]

Description

Halimar is not a natural sea. Surrounded on three sides by rocky cliffs, the fourth side is enclosed by an ancient Sea Gate. The seawall is more than 500 feet tall with a white-stone cylindrical lighthouse that soars an additional 350 feet into the air. Collectively, the seawall and lighthouse are known as the Sea Gate, the largest settlement in Tazeem.[1]

No one knows when the seawall was built, but it is believed that Halimar must be an ancient sea because it is home to unique species of brightly colored fish, tusked seals, and massive leviathans that dwell in its depths. Halimar is very deep — around 500 feet in places — with vast trenches that plunge even deeper, rumored to hold strange magic and powerful currents that attract merfolk seekers and explorers.[2]

When Halimar is placid, the water is a sparkling cerulean, but when the Roil sweeps across it, the sea stirs with white-capped waves, whirlpools, and sudden tempests. Tidal surges crash against the Sea Gate and cliffs, but despite the danger and predatory sea creatures, it remains the safest passage from Sea Gate to the mouth of the Umara River Gorge. As such, maritime trade thrives on Halimar’s waters, and ships, barges, and floating outposts dot its expanse.[1][2]

Halimar contains the Ula Temple, a post-Eldrazi ruin, meaning it is less than 6000 years old.[3]
