Belaxis was a half-compleated Phyrexian from the Hunter Maze of New Phyrexia. He was impaled on Drivnod and used to form Vishgraz.
Description
Belaxis was a half-compleated aspirant to New Phyrexia.[1] He retained a mix of organic and mechanical features, standing out due to his partially incomplete transformation, which left parts of his body vulnerable and not fully integrated into the Phyrexian collective. Belaxis' defining characteristics included his liveliness, talkativeness, and an apparent knack for survival through cleverness and opportunism rather than brute strength.
History
Belaxis originated from the Hunter Maze, a perilous sphere of New Phyrexia known for its harsh conditions and deadly inhabitants.[1] He escaped the Maze and made his way to the Dross Pits, where he made a deal with Geth for protection. Belaxis' life took a significant turn when he encountered Ixhel, a formidable and fully compleated Phyrexian warrior, tasked by Atraxa, the Grand Unifier, to eliminate Geth, a traitorous lich and one of the seven Steel Thanes of the Dross Pits. Belaxis' role as a gatekeeper for Geth's fortress positioned him as both an obstacle and a potential asset to Ixhel. Demonstrating his survival instincts, Belaxis offered to help Ixhel solve the gate puzzle, leveraging his knowledge to ensure his continued existence.
At first, Ixhel found him irritating, but came to appreciate some of his qualities.[1] After finding and slaying Geth, she decided that she wanted to elevate him and Belaxis into a more powerful Phyrexian. To accomplish this, she impaled Belaxis on the spines of Drivnod, the Dominus of Pain, and combined pieces of his and Geth's bodies with her own to create a creature she called Vishgraz.
