Innistrad: Double Feature[2] is a booster-based compilation set that was released on January 28, 2022, in WPN stores only.[3][4][5]

Set details

Innistrad: Double Feature was announced to combine select cards from Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and Innistrad: Crimson Vow into one unique draft experience.[4] However, it turned out to combine all cards from the two sets. It is sold at $9.99 per booster pack.

The set features a greyscale art treatment on every card, said to be inspired by black-and-white classical monster movies.[6] These are similar to "Eternal Night" showcase basic lands from Midnight Hunt, having colored accents to denote the card color, rarity and mana symbols. The cards have been given a special high-contrast treatment. Each card is said to have been adjusted individually to look great in black and white. The usual "rainbow" foil treatment has been swapped for a unique "silver screen" foil that is said to enhance a cinematic monochrome effect.[7]

The Double Feature contains 534 regular cards (200 commons, 166 uncommons, 128 rares, 40 mythic rares) and includes randomly inserted premium versions of all cards. #1-267 from Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and #268-534 from Innistrad: Crimson Vow, The prerelease card card is #535. Bramble Armor Evolving Wilds and Snarling Wolf each appear twice in the list. There are no basic lands (thus also excluding the full-art lands).[8]

Reception

Innistrad: Double Feature was considered a big miss.[17] Players believed Double Feature was unnecessary; they didn't like the black-and-white aesthetic, felt WotC misled them on what the contents were going to be, and were upset that it wasn't a crafted draft experience rather than just the two sets thrown together.
