The Mycotyrant and its mycoids chased the pirates into the Core of Ixalan, where a battle was taking place between vampires under the control of Aclazotz and Sun Empire soldiers led by Huatli, alongside the native Oltec. The Oltec recognized the danger the Mycotyrant posed and fought it back with spirits. While its attention was so diverted, Breeches managed to explode its nexus with a powerful bomb, causing its subordinate mycoids beneath the surface to wither and die.
However, the Mycotyrant lived on, as there were still pirates above the surface infected with its fungus.
