Plane | Tarkir |

The bulk of the Sultai Brood's domain on Tarkir, which was once controlled by the Silumgar brood, lies within the expansive Gudul delta region, situated in the southern part of the continent.[1][2]
Description
The lands ruled by the Sultai Brood share borders with the territories of the Mardu, Abzan, and Jeskai clans. The environment within the Sultai domain is predominantly tropical, characterized by consistently warm and humid conditions throughout the year. Seasonal weather patterns bring heavier storms during the winter months, contributing to the region's rich, swampy terrain and dense jungle growth that define much of the Gudul delta.
Known locations
- Bloomvine Jungle
— The largest contiguous jungle of the Sultai territory. Filled with towering trees and a variety of animals, the Marang River runs through the jungle, and many villages are nestled within the trees. Bloomvine provides much of the agricultural abundance of the Sultai.
- Gudul Islands
— A series of small islands that dot the massive river delta. They are rife with dangerous creatures, and many wild dragons claim portions of this territory.
- Gurmag Swamp
— A belt of treacherous swampland that encircles the upper portions of the Sultai territory.
- Ukud Necropolis
— the resting place for the bones of Silumgar's high-ranking dragons, which he had forbidden from being raised, and as a vault for his treasures. After the Stormnexus Ritual and Silumgar's disappearance, the Sultai began raiding its vaults.[3]
- Ukud Necropolis
- Kheru City
— The central city of the Sultai, Kheru was built around what was once the Kheru temple complex and is located within the waterways of the river delta. It is a beautiful city of large stone buildings, bustling markets, warrior practice grounds, and schools for magical training.[2][4] Under Silumgar's rule, it became the center for arcane and scholarly research.
- Qarsi Palace
— A sprawling, luxurious jungle paradise set on the waterways. The palace has been repurposed since Silumgar's rise to be the center of the Sultai government. The botanical gardens are renowned, showcasing an abundance of carefully cultivated, one-of-a-kind plants.
- Kheru Temple
— An ancient tree sits above a large crystal-blue pool, where sibsig ceremonies are conducted.[4]
- Kheru Temple
- Qarsi Palace
- Kishla Village
— A small fishing village located in the swamps, built on stilts over the waterways. The rising waters have flooded many of the old buildings, and ruins are scattered around the vibrant town. When Kotis led a resistance from Kishla, the village was briefly independent from Silumgar, before reinforcements pushed the rebels into the jungle.[5]
- Marang River
— Created from snowmelt, the Marang River is one of the largest rivers running through Sultai territory.
- Marang River Fortress
— is located near a small, steep pass where the river comes out of the mountains. Silumgar used the fortress as the seat of his power.
- Marang River Fortress
- Sagu Forest or Sagu Jungle
— At the edges of Sultai territory, Sagu Forest is not officially controlled by the Sultai. Considered the ancestral home of the naga, it is a vast, lush jungle that is still largely unknown. Many enormous beasts beyond comprehension dwell there.
Original timeline
Before Tarkir's timeline was altered by Sarkhan Vol, several locations served somewhat different purposes. The history outlined below was erased by Sarkhan's actions.
- Kheru - the central place of worship for the Sultai.
- Ukud Necropolis is an impressive building in the Gurmag Swamp that contains the tombs of the Sultai ancestors and was home to the Rakshasa.
- Marang River Fortress - located near a small, steep pass where the river came out of the mountains, but was otherwise not much more.
- Molderfang Falls - a sacred site where the ancient dragon Silumgar was felled and crashed into the river.
