Khans of Tarkir has one {W}{B} event deck, named Conquering Hordes.[1]

Description

Do you Mardu? Khan you see yourself pillaging and plundering? Would you say you're a weekend and weekday warrior? Are you really, really into attacking?

Well then, the Khans of Tarkir Event Deck is for you! This Warrior-based white-black deck attacks hard and fast, outfitting the warrior clans of Tarkir with some of the most punishing weapons of Theros.

Playing the Deck

The Conquering Hordes deck uses aggressive Warrior creatures to defeat the opponent before he or she can set up a defense. Many cards in your deck use the raid mechanic from the Khans of Tarkir set, providing you with additional powerful abilities as long as you stay on the offensive.

Claiming victory with this deck means attacking early and often. If you can, try to get two or three Warriors onto the battlefield in the first few turns, and don't be afraid to risk them in combat. As long as your attacks can force through several points of damage at a time, it's often worth losing one creature. You have cards that can replace creatures lost in combat in Mardu Hordechief and Timely Hordemat. Bloodsoaked Champion can even return itself when it dies.

Your most important Warriors are Chief of the Edge and Chief of the Scale, which provide bonuses to all of your other Warriors. It's often useful to cast creatures with team-pumping abilities like those two last so that your creatures already on the battlefield can benefit from those abilities immediately. You also have several enchantments that work similarly in Spear of Heliod and Raiders' Spoils. You can even give your army a huge one-time boost with Rush of Battle to finish off your opponent or punch through heavy defenses.

Large creatures can be a problem for your army of quick attackers, but you have several ways to deal with them. Mardu Hateblade can gain deathtouch, which makes it costly to block when it attacks, or if you hold it in reserve, you can force the opponent to trade a bigger creature for it if he or she wants to attack you. Banishing Light and Silence the Believers can remove almost any creature, so make sure to save them for your opponent's biggest blockers.

Sideboarding lets you focus your deck against your opponent. Glare of Heresy and Dark Betrayal are excellent weapons against other white or black decks. Despise and Brain Maggot give you a way to deal with powerful cards before they become a problem. Tormod's Crypt can be an effective solution to opposing decks that rely on the delve mechanic from Khans of Tarkir or other graveyard-based strategies.

Once you've gotten the basics of the Conquering Hordes deck, you can customize the deck to suit your play style. If you enjoy the creature swarm aspect of the deck, Magic 2015 cards such as Raise the Alarm and Soul of Theros will help you overwhelm your opponent with sheer numbers. By adding some red mana to the deck, you can take advantage of the whole range of red-white-black Mardu cards from the Khans of Tarkir set, like the powerful warlord Zurgo Helmsmasher. Sorin, Solemn Visitor is a powerful planeswalker that can boost your army or bring one of his own.
