Qarsi Palace is a sprawling, opulent complex nestled among the waterways of the Gudul delta on Tarkir. Once a grand temple compound, the palace was transformed into the heart of the Sultai brood’s government under Silumgar’s rule. Renowned for its vast botanical gardens and labyrinthine chambers, Qarsi Palace stands as a symbol of the Sultai’s wealth, decadence, and necromantic power.[1]
Description
Qarsi Palace is located at the center of Kheru City, the primary urban hub of the Sultai within the delta. The city grew around what was once the Kheru temple complex—now absorbed into the palace’s architecture—featuring grand stone halls, gilded spires, and bridges that span over canals choked with dense jungle growth. The palace’s famed botanical gardens are cultivated with rare and dangerous flora, many used for alchemical experiments and necromantic rites.
Kheru City itself is a bustling center for trade, arcane study, and military training. Here, necromancers, sibsig, and rakshasa agents gather under the looming shadow of Silumgar’s authority.[1]
History
Under Silumgar, Qarsi Palace became the seat of power for the entire Sultai brood. The cunning naga vizier Sidisi ruled much of the day-to-day from within its halls, consolidating her influence through intrigue and dark magic. When the New Phyrexian Invasion reached Tarkir, rising rebellions within the brood culminated in a daring raid on Qarsi Palace itself. Gravely injured in the attack, Sidisi escaped into the swamps of Gurmag, where she now plots in exile with powerful rakshasa allies, hoping to reclaim her lost throne and the authority she once held over the Sultai.[2]
