House Fenzala is one of the five major ruling houses of the Abzan Houses.

Description

House Fenzala is known as the House of Hospitality.[1] They are expert traders who maintain an extensive network of connections outside the Abzan. Fenzalas are known for being adaptable, politically savvy, and open-minded. The clan's leader is a tall, elegant, and willowy man.[2] Its Kin-Tree is kept in Qatros Karst.[3]

History

Hamza, a leader in the Yathan was offered a position in the Council of Houses after the dragonlords were overthrown, but chose instead to stay with the Yathan.[4]

House Fenzala was gifted a cutting of a kin-tree from Anafenza Mevak's secret grove, which was planted in Qatros Karst around 4562 AR.[3] Over the following two years, at least three houses, including House Agach, requested cuttings from the tree. By around 4564 AR, the tree was twice as tall as Mehtma Fenzala and about as large around as her torso. Jurjis Agach, angered that his house had been denied a cutting, attempted to steal the tree, killing Enti Fenzala in the process. When Enti manifested as the tree's first spirit, he assisted Mehtma in killing Jurjis and saving the tree.

Behind the scenes

In the original text of "Tarkir: Dragonstorm - Abzan: Siege Blossoms," the story focused on House Mevak. As the flavor text of the card Strategic Betrayal marked Mehtma as being a member of House Fenzala, the article was later updated to retcon the family to match the card.[5]
