March 2–4	Final of the Magic Online Championship. Dmitriy Butakov becomes the first repeat champion.
March 16	Release of Masters 25. Celebrating 25 years history of Magic.
March 29	Release of Relic Tokens: the Eternal Collection by UltraPro.
April 6	Release of Duel Decks: Elves vs. Inventors. Last in the Duel Decks series. Release of Challenger Decks. First in the Challenger Deck series.
April 18	The MTG Wiki implements Scryfall card links.
April 27	Release of Dominaria. Return to the plane of the same name, the setting for most sets until Mirrodin. Introducing Historic and Sagas. First standalone set in the Three-and-One Model. The release of an exclusive Buy-a-Box promo sparks fierce criticism.
May 18	Announcement Day.
June 1–3	Pro Tour Dominaria in Richmond, Virginia, United States. Won by Wyatt Darby.
June 8	Release of Battlebond. First-ever Two-Headed Giant-focused Magic booster set. Release of Commander Anthology Volume II. Ari Nieh wins The Great Designer Search 3.
June 15	Release of Signature Spellbook: Jace. First in the Signature Spellbook series.
June 22	Release of Global Series: Jiang Yanggu & Mu Yanling. First, and only, in the Global Series.
July 20	Release of Core 2019 First Core Set since Magic Origins.
July 13	Reveal of the Magic: The Gathering Arena exclusive cards
August 3–5	Pro Tour 25th Anniversary in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. Won by the team of Allen Wu, Ben Hull, and Gregory Orange. The Silver Showcase exhibition event is won by Stanislav Cifka.
August 10	Release of Commander 2018.
August 16	Wizards of the Coast announces changes for Organized Play: New cycle system in the Pro Players Club. Changes in the Magic Pro Tour Team Series. Introduction of pro player advisers.
September 19	Release of the Creature Forge: Overwhelming Swarm miniatures line by WizKids.
September 21–23	2018 World Championship. Won by Javier Dominguez. Gerry Thompson protests the state of professional Magic by refusing to participate.
September 27	Magic: The Gathering Arena enters open beta.
October 3	Guilds of Ravnica Mythic Edition goes on sale. Features a special draft-sized booster box exclusively sold in the U.S and Canada. It contains eight masterpieces.
October 5	Release of Guilds of Ravnica Release of the Spellslinger Starter Kit.
October 10	Grand Prix are announced to get a new look and a new name: MagicFest.
October 30	Release of Relic Tokens: the Lineage Collection by UltraPro.
November 2	Release of the Guilds of Ravnica Guild Kits.
November 9–11	Pro Tour Guilds of Ravnica in Atalanta, USA. Won by Andrew Elenbogen.
November 16	Release of Magic Game Night. Release of the seasonal Gift Pack.
November 28	Release of D&D Icons of the Realms: Guildmasters' Guide to Ravnica by WizKids.
December 3	Release of the Heroes of Dominaria board game by WizKids. Annex set to Dominaria.
December 6	Wizards of the Coast announces further changes for Organized Play: Termination of Nationals, Pro Points, the Pro Players Club in present form, and the World Magic Cup. Introduction of Magic esports. Introduction of the Magic Pro League (MPL), consisting of 32 pro players. Pro Tours are rebranded as Mythic Championships, and will also be featured on MTG Arena.
December 7	Release of Ultimate Masters. Last Masters series set "for the foreseeable future". Featuring Ultimate Box Toppers, a series of 40 promo box toppers.
December 14–16	2018 World Magic Cup in Barcelona, Spain. Won by Team France. The last World Magic Cup ever.
	Player of the Year: Luis Salvatto.
	Rookie of the Year: Samuel Ihlenfeldt.
	Hall of Fame inductees: Seth Manfield Lee Shi Tian.
