Ormacar, Relic Wraith, is an elf wraith from an unknown plane.
Background
The character of Ormacar was created by Wizards of the Coast for a celebration card as part of the 2023 Heroes of the Realm program.[1] It appears to be a humanoid made of darkness contained in armor, wielding a sword giving off blue energy and a glowing ring.
The card was designed by Jeremy Geist and given as a reward for the The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth's Design and Development team.[2][1]
Design
Ormacar's name may be a combination of two elements: or, which is French for "gold", and Macar, Magic's version of the mythical character of Midas. This could convey the meaning that the winners of the card turned everything into gold. Its epithet, "Relic Wraith," is a reference to Lord of the Rings's Ringwraiths. Its mechanic, Precious, is a reference to the term used by ring-bearers to refer to the One Ring. Its power and toughness are written as "001/001," a reference to the serialized version of The One Ring
