The Champions of Amonkhet is a racing team from Amonkhet that competed in the Ghirapur Grand Prix, winning the second edition of the race.[1] The team consists of both the living and the dead from the plane.

Description

In the wake of the Hour of Devastation and New Phyrexia's Invasion of the Multiverse, Amonkhet has risen again through the collective effort of the living and the dead.[1]

The Amonkheti know toil, so in the new future they are building, they have made a conscious effort to make room for sport, leisure, and play as they raise heroes who don't swing swords in battle alongside those who do.[1] One champion of this new measure is Zahur, an undead leonin charioteer from the lost era before Nicol Bolas. Zahur leads the Amonkheti racing team in the second annual interplanar Ghirapur Grand Prix alongside Basri Ket and a crew of living and undead charioteers. They are aided by Lazotep servants and their mighty chariots are pulled by powerful undead creatures.[2][3] These racers ride to win glory and bring acclaim to Naktamun, Hazoret, the new gods, and the people of Amonkhet who still struggle to build a new plane of their own from the ruin of history.

Khuru, a dark-skinned man with gold-adorned dreadlocks, was killed in the race for Zahur. Born c. 4537 AR, he was later raised from death, the first during the race. He was wrapped in bright white linens that covered his body, including the large divot in his chest where the killing blow was dealt.[2]

The Champions of Amonkhet would go on to win the 2nd Ghirapur Grand Prix and claim the Aetherspark as their own.[4]
