Nylah was an Amonkheti mage, who became a fervent believer in the God-Pharaoh during the Hours.
History
Nylah started with a lack of understanding and appreciation for faith. She saw the gods as physical entities that did not require faith to believe in, since their presence was evident through sensory experiences. Her life was dedicated to training and preparing for the Trials, aiming to be the best and to be found worthy by the gods. Her ambition superseded any personal relationships or broader thoughts about the divine. When the gate to paradise opened, instead of divine bliss, she witnessed horror. Her city was destroyed, the Luxa River was filled with blood, locusts devastated the land, and the gods themselves were dying. This devastation led Nylah to question the divinity of the gods, as they were now mortal and could die. She had a moment of realization that perhaps the gods, like everyone else, must be tested, and can fail.
Instead of despairing, Nylah found comfort in the idea that this horror was a trial to be overcome. The priests' litany, which she previously ignored, now resonated with her deeply. Angels proclaimed the coming of the Eternals, and Nylah witnessed the arrival of a dread figure, the Scarab God, followed by an army of the worthy dead, known as the Eternals. Nylah envied the Eternals, desiring their fate as it embodied everything she had ever wanted. She saw them as her kin and aspired to join them. As the Eternals approached her, Nylah cried out in ecstasy, embracing them and wanting to become one with them. She shouted her belief as they swarmed and stabbed her, each blade representing a step towards the glory she sought. With each blow and each cut, Nylah's faith was reinforced, and she felt her belief rewarded through her death. She embraced this violent end as her true destiny, believing that now her faith was justified and rewarded.
