Darksteel metal is a magical indestructible material found on Mirrodin. It is black and has characteristic golden streaks of energy surrounding it.[1][2][3]

Description

Forging darksteel metal to create tools or constructs is an extremely difficult art, as the same properties which make the material indestructible make it impossible to forge by traditional means. Although Jin-Gitaxias claimed that the metal must be shaped immediately upon forging, Tezzeret knows this is inaccurate: rather the reality around the forming metal is manipulated to grant it its properties. This methodology was passed through Vulshok tradition but largely lost in the Phyrexian corruption of Mirrodin.[4]

Exposure to glistening oil for months at a time would convert it into blightsteel. These compounded difficulties meant few blightsteel constructs have been made, with only one confirmed (Blightsteel Colossus).
