Thatu Reiniger
Details
Race Vampire
Birthplace Innistrad
Lifetime Mending Era

Thatu Reiniger was a vampire lord and wielder of the Bloodletter on the plane of Innistrad.

Description

Thatu Reiniger was a vampire lord of considerable power and cunning. He was characterized by a regal, almost aristocratic demeanor, with a deep disdain for the humans he considered beneath him. Thatu had pale skin, sharp features, and a predatory grace that belied his true nature. His eyes, cold and calculating, would reflect his inner darkness and thirst for control.

Thatu was manipulative and strategic, always seeking ways to increase his influence and power. He had a paradoxical nature; on one hand, he was bound by an agreement to feed only on the willing, showing a semblance of honor or practicality. On the other, he was ruthlessly ambitious, yearning for the days when he could hunt and kill freely. His journal entries revealed a deep-seated frustration with his current existence and a longing to break free from the constraints imposed upon him.

History

Thatu's downfall began with a series of events involving a powerful, cursed sword known as The Bloodletter. Reika Eberhardt, a former initiate of the church, lured him with the promise of this potent relic. The sword was capable of causing eternal bleeding in mortals and final death to the eternal like vampires. Thatu saw the weapon as a means to reclaim his full predatory potential and dominate both humans and his kind.

Meanwhile, Pitre the Thatcher, a countryman turned vampire hunter, arrived in the town where Thatu resided. Despite his inexperience, Pitre was driven by faith and love for his betrothed, Lorelei Garensun. He trained under a priest to hunt vampires, specifically Thatu. However, Pitre was ultimately outmatched, leading to his tragic end and a curse upon his village.

Raben Amsel, a dedicated cathar adept, was dispatched to retrieve The Bloodletter. His investigation led him through a series of perilous encounters, ultimately bringing him face-to-face with Thatu. In a climactic battle, Amsel managed to defeat Thatu, who seemed to desire his death, possibly seeing it as a release from his burdensome existence.

Thatu's final moments were marked by a cryptic warning to Amsel, hinting that the sword he sought would bring doom to his father Jofridus, which turned out to be true.
