Sekena was a dwarf from the village of Tigaden in the Crimson Peaks of Sarpadia, on the plane of Dominaria.
History
Sekena was born with an inherent skill to bond with dragons. Growing up with her sister Tamun and her mother Melelki in the dwarven village of Tigaden, she aided her family in establishing a sort of annual trade from selling dragon eggs to the wizard Reod Dai. They even moved out of the village and built their own house closer to the dragons' nesting grounds so they did not have to haul the large eggs over such long distances. However, in the fourth year of egg harvesting, Reod Dai suddenly refused to pay the agreed-upon sum, resulting in one of the eggs hatching in the dwarves' basement. Reod cast an exploding spell on the hatched dragon, saving them from its possible wrath, but at the cost of their house. [1]
The dwarves then joined Reod on his journey north to dispose of the eggs. Sekena started feeling strange bonding emotions with the unhatched dragons, and at times during the trip when the eggs hatched and the dragon whelps died, she experienced mounting sensations of grief and pain. The four travelers passed through ruined Kalitas on the way out of the Crimson Peaks and on into Havenwood, where Sekena realized she could no longer tolerate the deaths of the dragon whelps. She brought two of the surviving whelps with her and headed towards Teedmar, but the whelps refused to pass by Mount Shanin. They pulled Sekena up to the mountaintop with her, where they encountered a fully-grown male dragon. Although it was initially thought to eat Sekena, her bonding ability brought it around, and they eventually became something almost like siblings. Sekena stayed for many days on the mountaintop with the three dragons, until she saw that Teedmar had been destroyed by a volcanic eruption. She then got the dragon to fly near the city and saw there her mother and sister being chased by a pack of goblins. The dragon roasted the goblins and feasted on their corpses, while Sekena was reunited with her family. [1]
After another stay on the mountaintop, Sekena ordered the dragons to fly to Gurn Keep, which was under siege by orcs and goblins. There, one of the two whelps was killed, and the adult dragon was wounded, but they did manage to snatch Tamun, Sekena, and Reod Dai with them before the keep was completely overwhelmed and its defenders killed. Reod and Sekena's sister Tamun then pledged themselves to each other, and the newly forged family resolved to not give up, and face the Fall of the Sarpadian Empires with hopes of a new generation being born.[1]
