lore:"Mondrak" |
Mondrak is a Phyrexian Horror on New Phyrexia.
Description
When Phyrexia reshaped the surface of Mirrodin, parts of the very land took on a mind of its own.[1] Entire mountains began to move, becoming godlike Phyrexian creatures known as the Domini. No one knows what the Domini are or whether they think and desire the same way other Phyrexians do.[2]
Mondrak was born from the spires of the Fair Basilica. She grew dozens of mouths who constantly sing hymns, a keening wail that compels living things to assimilate into Phyrexia.[1] She is an awe-inspiring but brain-melting sight.[3]
During the Assault on New Phyrexia, the planeswalkers of the Gatewatch came across a stationary Phyrexian colossus blocking a bridge in the Fair Basilica that shares similarities with, and may have been, Mondrak.[4] It is described as having a head like an inverted teardrop of white metal, split in the center by a single empty red socket. Its body was hunched and elongated, bearing no resemblance to any living forms.
