The Sharpest Steel is Tempered in Fire.

Mirrodin Pure was one of 2 possible names for the 3rd set in the Scars of Mirrodin block, as Wizards of the Coast did not want to reveal the victor of the Phyrexian/Mirran conflict.[1][2][3][4] It was what Mirrodin would have become had the Mirrans defeated the Phyrexians.[5] Phyrexia actually won, and the set was named New Phyrexia.

The reveal of the actual set's name was spoiled, when the whole New Phyrexia set was leaked before the disclosure would be made public on magicthegathering.com.

Only one card was ever printed with the Mirrodin Pure expansion symbol , a version of Pristine Talisman previewed at the Mirrodin Besieged Game Day.[6]
