Realmbreaker is New Phyrexia's Invasion Tree.[1][2][3] It has the potential to forcibly merge planes[4].

History

Realmbreaker was grown in the Seedcore, the innermost layer of the Spheres of New Phyrexia, a place that served as an incubation chamber.[5] It was created with the tyrite of the World Tree taken by Vorinclex during his exploits on Kaldheim.[6] It is noted that, due to being a cosmic tree, it should have sundered New Phyrexia, but Elesh Norn did something to stabilize its growth.[7]

Early 4562 AR, it was still a sapling with beads of glistening oil hanging from its twigs like buds.[2] Elesh Norn plans to use it to expand New Phyrexia across the Multiverse.[1]

The Gatewatch planned to destroy Realmbreaker with the Sylex.[8] By the time they made their way to the Seedcore, Realmbreaker was massive, bearing white porcelain bark and red flesh much like Norn herself. Its roots drive deep, and its branches reached so high they penetrate into the Mycosynth Gardens. It branches began to generate Omenpaths in order to connect New Phyrexia with other planes.[7] Long, white oblong invasion ships hung in the air near the highest branches of the impossible tree, fading partially into the distorted distance as they reached for the Blind Eternities.

Inside the tree, a great domed room formed from woven roots. Dark passages split off from the chamber, with the large one directly ahead seeming to be the main channel. At the center of the space, atop a low dais, was Karn.[7] He had been broken open, vivisected, and spread across the platform. Still able to talk, he encouraged the strike force to detonate the Sylex.

Kaya Cassir and Kaito Shizuki hesitated to detonate the Sylex because they thought it could obliterate all planes accessible from New Phyrexia; this mistake was all it took for Norn to appear with a compleated Nissa Revane and order her to control Realmbreaker, initiating the invasion of the Multiverse.[9]
