Lothar was the Guardian of Thraben, and Thalia's mentor on the plane of Innistrad.

History

Lothar was a revered soldier known as the Guardian of Thraben, leading an elite group of protectors in service of the Lunarch in the province of Gavony. He was a formidable and respected warrior, embodying strength and leadership.

Lothar's personality was marked by his valor, dedication, and unwavering commitment to protecting Thraben and its holy relics. He recognized and nurtured potential in others, including Thalia, a promising young cathar whom he recruited after witnessing her brave and selfless actions on the battlefield. Lothar valued courage and self-sacrifice, qualities that he both demonstrated and fostered in his subordinates.

Lothar's end came during the Siege of Thraben, a catastrophic event orchestrated by the sibling necromancers Geralf and Gisa Cecani, who unleashed a massive horde of undead upon the city. Amid the chaos and destruction, Lothar was tormented by evil, demonic voices. These voices drove him to despair, leading him to tragically plunge off one of Thraben's high walls to his death. His demise left a significant void in Thraben's defense, thrusting his protégé, Thalia, into the position of Guardian of Thraben in his stead.
