Ormendahl, known as the Reaper, is a demon prince from Innistrad.
Storyline
Ormendahl was among the more powerful demons released from the Helvault. After escaping his imprisonment in the Helvault, Ormendahl began spreading terror across Innistrad. He survived Avacyn's purge by hiding in caverns deep beneath the cathedral. After Liliana Vess killed Griselbrand, he took the other demon's place as the leader of the Skirsdag cult.
Unfortunately for the innocent victims of the Lunarch Inquisition, the fractious council of bishops was highly susceptible to Ormendahl's malignant influence. Bishop Jerren, who sat on the Lunarch Council, was Ormendhal's high priest and used the uncertainty of the council to whip the church into an even more violent frenzy.[1]
Ormendahl once possessed a cathar's wife, causing her to commit a string of murders that would be blamed on werewolves. The possessed woman was discovered and killed, but not before she revealed that Ormendahl was the one responsible.[2]
However, his power paled in comparison to the Eldrazi, and when The Travails began, the ambitious Ormendahl fell under Emrakul's influence and lost his own.[3]
After the events of the Travails, Henrika Domnathi tried to raise an army of unholy cathars for Ormendahl. She tried to perform a ritual to bring the demon back, but her plans were thwarted by Thalia and Odric.[4]
