War in Jamuraa!

The Keldons have landed in the north. The Jamuraan League of City-States has put together a raftag defense and enlisted the aid of the planeswalker Teferi. But even a planeswalker cannot by himself hold back the might of Keld.

Plot

Set shortly before the Phyrexian Invasion of Dominaria, Prophecy follows the conflict between the invading Keldons and the defenders of Jamuraa's Kipamu League.

The story begins with Haddad, a Kipamu League soldier who faces off against a band of Keldons, led by Overseer Latulla. Haddad is enslaved and learns more about the culture of his captors. Claiming ancestral rights to the land and seeking the magical resource known as Hero's Blood (known as tufa in Jamuraa), the Keldons initiate brutal raids against the League cities. The League, lacking unified leadership, suffers heavy losses and is pushed toward the coast.

Though Haddad briefly considers escape, he ultimately remains by her side, witnessing Keldon society and Latulla’s growing obsession with prophecy and conquest. Meanwhile, Latulla employs the services of Greel, a life-draining horror whose powers fuel Keldon artifacts and war machines, further escalating the threat to the League.

In response to the invasion, Teferi dispatches Barrin, the Master Wizard, to aid the Kipamu League. Barrin tours various cities, coordinating military defenses and introducing magical airships to support supply lines and tactical movement. He is joined by his wife, Rayne, an accomplished artificer who assists in improving the League’s war capabilities. Other key figures include Mageta the Lion, a League general, and Jolrael, a reclusive wizard who lends her support to the cause.

As the war continues, Latulla travels back to Keld to fulfill a prophecy by awakening the Witch-Kings of the Keldon Necropolis. She believes their return will signal a new era for Keldon dominance. However, she is stopped by Gorsha, a representative of the Keldon Warlords' Council. The two engage in ritual combat, and Latulla is defeated. The Council denounces her actions, and she is exiled along with her followers, forced to return to Jamuraa.

Upon returning, Latulla leads a final assault against the League. During the battle, her war barge is overturned, pinning her. She encounters Barrin and demands his help, mistaking him for a slave. Grieving Rayne’s recent death at the hands of Greel, Barrin executes Latulla.

The story ends with the defeat of the Keldons, the destruction of their colonies in Jamuraa, and the deaths of key figures, including Rayne, Latulla, Greel, and Haddad. Disillusioned by the war's cost and Urza's distant leadership, both Barrin and Teferi begin to question their roles in the larger conflict to come.
