The Lat-Nam Straits is a body of water in western Terisian Isles.

Description

The Lat-Nam Straits are the stretches of the sea that separate Lat-Nam and the Halquina Islands from Almaaz and Gulmany. The straits between the islands range from wide to fairly narrow and allow for a wide combination of possible routes. The straits connect to the South Sea in the southeast, the Sea of Almaaz in the northeast, and the Ilesemare Sea in the north and west.

History

The Lat-Nam Straits followed the western shore of Terisiare before that continent was split into smaller islands. During the Brothers' War, the straits were narrower and dotted with more islands, bordering the Halquina Mountains and the Borderlands of Almaaz. During the Dark Age, the Straits grew even narrower with the cooling climate, with several of the smaller islands starting to join together. Smaller nations formed in the area at this time, including Jehesic and Iwset.[1] During the Ice Age, the straits dried up completely, connecting Lat-Nam to the main continent. At the same time, the Great Glacier grew south and covered much of the area that had once belonged to the straits. Come the Flooding of Terisiare, the glaciers retreated and sea levels rose again, filling the straits with water once more.
