The Activation of the Mox Beacon was an event that occurred on Corondor in 4196 AR.

Description

Following a series of encounters with Ravidel, Jared Carthalion and his allies — Kristina of the Woods, Caliphear, and Altair of Coloni — traveled to the Dueling Chasm of Golthonor, a site of immense magical significance, created millennia prior when the dragon Piru was destroyed in a battle with Dakkon Blackblade. This chasm became the battlefield where Jared and his companions would make their stand against Ravidel.

At the chasm, Ravidel once again threatened the world with his Golgothian Sylex, a devastating artifact capable of obliterating vast swathes of land and magic. However, Jared, wielding the Rust Daggers, countered Ravidel’s threat by using them to cast a Shatter spell upon the Sylex, destroying it and preventing the annihilation of Corondor. Despite this victory, the confrontation quickly turned against Jared and his allies.

Caliphear attempted to strike at Ravidel as the battle escalated but was swiftly unsummoned by his magic. Meanwhile, Kristina of the Woods, who had gathered a cache of powerful magical standing stones, arrived to aid her comrades. Ravidel then revealed a startling truth — his master was none other than Taysir of Rabiah, Kristina’s former lover and one of the most powerful planeswalkers. This revelation sent shockwaves through the group, particularly Kristina, who was unprepared for such a betrayal.

Jared, determined to turn the tide, summoned the spitting slug Hoont, a trusted ally, but she was swiftly slain by Ravidel’s summoned Lord of the Pit. In a desperate countermeasure, Altair of Coloni sacrificed himself to destroy the demon, ensuring the group’s survival.

In the chaos, Ravidel seized the three Moxen that Kristina had carried — artifacts of immense power. Using them, he activated the Mox Beacon, a powerful spell that sent a resonant call across the Blind Eternities, drawing planeswalkers from across existence to Corondor. This act set the stage for the coming Planeswalkers' War, ensuring that the already fragile balance of power in Dominaria would be thrown into further turmoil.

As the beacon’s pulse echoed through the multiverse, Jared made a last-ditch effort to defeat Ravidel by destabilizing the ground beneath him, destroying the stone pillar with a fissure. Ravidel plummeted into the chasm, yet even as he fell, his plan had already been set in motion. Jared himself nearly shared Ravidel’s fate, standing on a toppling pillar as the ground shook.

At this critical moment, a new figure emerged — Daria, the adopted daughter of Taysir. Having followed the signal of the Mox Beacon, she found Jared on the precipice of doom. With her guidance, Jared’s latent Planeswalker spark ignited, granting him the ability to planeswalk for the first time. He used his newfound power to escape the destruction, bringing Kristina with him to safety.

The two emerged near Quirion, a place of ancient wisdom and refuge, where they began preparations for the inevitable Planeswalkers' War. The world had changed irrevocably — Corondor would soon become the battlefield for a conflict unlike any before, with forces beyond mortal comprehension converging upon its lands.[1]
