Some believe these lands would be the last to fall to those who would conqueror Corondor.[2] Founded by elf clans fleeing drowning Terisiare, the Quirion faced many challenges in their long history and carried with them the memory of the revolt of the Thallids. Determined to defend their home, Quirion became an armed camp. Non-elves would be advised to tread carefully, for the Exarch Amadis was notoriously short-tempered. The Quirion Dryads being an exception.

The Quirion society is built around the clan, an extended family that includes aunts, uncles, cousins, and many adopted members. Hundreds of different clans comprise the states of the Quirion. The Kiery and Calthyn are both made up of dozens of clans that have traditionally been allies. At times these alliances are so complex that different branches of the larger clans often end up opposing one another. The elves consider this oddity a sign of their sophistication. Both Kieryn and Calthyn elves are gathered close to the river Estolade, which runs through the center of the forest.[3]

History

After the devastation of the continent of Terisiare during the Brothers' War, elvish refugees traveled to Corondor and founded the Sovereign in its White Woods.

In c. 2970 AR, Aldon was brought by his Serra Angel to see Calthyn Elvish Archers training at arrows in Shikar.[4]

By 4196 AR, the nation was split into a collection of clans, the two primaries of which being the rival Calthyn and Kieryn Elves, led by Exarchs Finovar and Amadis, respectively. The primary schism in the clans arose over the decision of who could speak with the forest's Maro-Sorcerer, known by them as the Great Spirit. In the end, both exarchs met with the force of nature together with Jared Carthalion and Kristina of the Woods.[3] The Quirion allied themselves with Mangara during the Mirage War that followed immediately afterward when Mangara brought a large contingent of the Elves to settle in Uktabi Jungle.

Notable Quirion included the exarchs Amadis, Finovar, and Liefellen.
