Evelyn, the Covetous, is a vampire rogue of the Maestros family in New Capenna.
History
Very few inhabitants of New Capenna retain memories of the old world. Among the city's denizens, only a select few—such as some of the exceptionally aged sphinxes residing within the Obscura district and a small number of elderly rhox amidst the vibrant ranks of the Cabaretti—were present during the city’s earliest days. The Maestros claim the largest group of long-lived members, a longevity made possible by their connection to Xander's vampiric gift, yet even most of their number came into existence after the construction of the iconic shining tower that now defines New Capenna. In truth, the genuine old guard is a scarce remnant: the heads of the five ruling families, alongside Evelyn herself, stand as the last living witnesses to the city's earliest era.[1]
Once, she called Lord Xander a lover - but that was lifetimes and passions ago. The first to receive the gift of vampirism from Xander, Evelyn still remembers the old days of Old Capenna, what the world was like before it was emptied.[2] In the time since, she has lived many lives, but through them all, she has collected and maintained a sprawling private collection of artifacts from the old world. Her expertise is such that she is one of the only people besides Lord Xander himself to have access to his private archives.[3]
Polite and generous, accommodating to young Maestros — they're all young to her — and initiates to the family, Evelyn is nonetheless not one to be underestimated. She may be a collector, but she was a killer first, and any life less than her own is a life that can be cheaply spent.
