Rigo, known as the Streetwise Mentor, is a leonin member of the Brokers crime family based in New Capenna.
Description
Rigo is a young leonin with a broad, fuzzy face marked by a slightly pinched expression. He typically wears a sharp pinstripe vest that hints at his connection to the city's underworld. With keen instincts and a grounded sense of reality, Rigo maintains an extensive network of street urchins and informants who keep him connected to the daily happenings across the city’s neighborhoods.[1]
History
Despite their reputation for exclusivity in Park Heights, the Brokers understand the importance of strong community ties and the insights gained from the streets.[2] Their philosophy emphasizes that looking upward also means paying attention to the foundation below. Many of the Brokers’ most effective enforcers and contract mages have risen from humble origins—young strivers from the tough streets of Caldaia and Mezzio who bring determination and hustle to the family, climbing the ranks through sheer grit.
Rigo started as one of those ambitious street kids in the Mezzio district.[3] Early on, he dreamed of working alongside New Capenna's renowned angels, though the Brokers became a close second. Determined to prove himself, he worked tirelessly to gain the attention of the family’s recruiters. Over time, Rigo built a wide-reaching network of newsies, pickpockets, shoeshine boys, porters, and errand runners who assisted Brokers operating in the Mezzio by providing information, keeping things running smoothly, and discreetly handling payments. His efforts paid off, and he was soon formally accepted into the Brokers' fold within the Mezzio.
As Rigo advanced through the ranks and moved into the more prestigious firms located in Park Heights, he never forgot his roots or the drive that fueled his rise.[3] Now a respected Broker in his own right, he remains deeply connected to his community, volunteering his time in the Mezzio and mentoring the younger street kids who remind him of his past struggles.
