lore:"Jetmir" |
Boss Jetmir is the crime-lord and boss of the Cabaretti family in New Capenna.[1]
Description
Also known as Grandfather Cabaretti, the obese cat demon Jetmir is the adoptive father of Jinnie Fay. He has two crescent-shaped horns and amber eyes; wears a signet ring, expensive jewel-toned coat, and cashmere scarf; and carries a scepter topped with a crowned leonin face, the symbol of the Cabaretti.[2][3]
The emcee of New Capenna is more than a warm heart and an expensive suit — he is the living spirit of New Capenna, the one-demon dynamo around which the elite orbit and turn to like the sun. There would be no scene without Jetmir. Without his coin, his approval, and his Halo, New Capenna is just a tower in an empty world. People need to live, not just survive; Jetmir learned that early on. His life's work was to make sure that people live in his version of New Capenna.
History
Jetmir was the founder and boss of the Cabaretti, one of New Capenna's five families. In ages past, he led a sect of leonin druids. In Old Capenna, they were masters of ritual and rite, cultists of the natural world — its bounty, beauty, and the cycles that move because of and within all things. Life, death, rebirth, and life eternal, Jetmir's cult carried within them the spirit of the family that would become the Cabaretti before the first migration to New Capenna. He and his order kept the early settlers entertained, kept their spirits up, and in turn, they kept them fed and warm. This relationship, though far removed from how it began, remained essentially the same in later years. Jetmir kept the Halo flowing, the music playing, and the dance floor burning, and New Capenna loved him for it.[4]
At the Crescendo celebration during the events of Streets of New Capenna, Jetmir was gravely wounded by agents of the Adversary.[5] He was last seen near death, being tended to by his adopted daughter in an Obscura safehouse.[6] However, by the time of New Phyrexia's Invasion of the Multiverse, he seemed to have recovered, complaining about the use of his Halo reserves against the invaders.[7]
