Spurna was a goblin embermage of Squee's kingdom, who became Phyrexianized.
Description
Spurna was the head of the embermages of Squee's kingdom, tasked with maintaining the mana lamps that illuminated the goblins' mountain home. She was a stern and practical figure, known for her gruff, no-nonsense demeanor. Spurna's presence commanded respect and authority among her peers, making her a significant figure in the goblin hierarchy.[1]
History
Spurna rose to her prominent position as head of the embermages through her expertise in controlling the mana lamps, which were critical for providing light within the mountain. Her role required careful management of the volatile mana energy to prevent any mishaps that could endanger the goblin community. Known for her strict adherence to protocol and safety, Spurna was wary of the risks associated with tampering with the mana lamps, as excessive mana flow could lead to catastrophic explosions.[1]
Her loyalty and service to the goblin king, Squee, were tested when he ordered the extinguishing of the mana lamps for a celebration. Concerned about the potential dangers, she warned him of the risks, highlighting the threat of the lamps exploding if mishandled. Despite her protests, she ultimately followed Squee's orders, but this compliance revealed a darker truth. Spurna was revealed to be a traitor, having been compromised by Ertai, an agent of Phyrexia. In a shocking betrayal, she attacked Squee, demonstrating her compleated nature and allegiance to Ertai's cause. Her actions exposed her as a key player in the infiltration of Phyrexian sleeper agents within the goblin community, using her position and abilities to further Ertai's nefarious plans. However, when a partially compleated Squee accidentally set off the volatile mana torches, a chain of explosions annihilated the mountain the goblins lived in, killing all the goblins inside, Spurna included.[1]
