Slovakian National Championship tournaments were originally held in collaboration with with the Czech Republic, before it's first independant event in 1997. These then happened annually through to 2011, then again in 2017 and 2018.[1][2] The winner of these events was named Slovak Champion. That player also headed the national team at that years' World Championship, with the runner-up and semifinalists making up the rest of the team.
Between 2012 and 2016 the title Slovak Champion was instead given to the Slovakian player with the highest amount of Pro Points in a particular Pro Tour season.
National Championships (1995 to 2011)
For 1995 and 1996 there was a combined competition with the Czech Republic.[3][4]
From 1997 the Czechs and Slovaks would have their own Nationals. Originally Czechs were still invited to participate in the Slovak Nationals, and vice-versa, although they weren't eligible for the national teams or title. This arrangement only lasted one year, and in 1998 this reciprocal arrangement was ended.[5]
National team members are in bold. In years that teams consisted of three players the 4th place getter was the alternate. They received an invitation to Worlds but weren't part of the team. The alternate is marked in italics.
