Lady Orca was a mysterious and very powerful minion of Ramses Overdark on Dominaria.[1]

Description

Orca was a gigantic bald woman, over 70 feet tall with steel-blue ebony skin and red-hot coals for eyes. She had a rough, raspy voice and a black-toothed smile, and she wore shimmering metallic blue robes that dripped with hot tar. She could survive grievous injuries like being cut in half or being beheaded by reverting to her tar form and reforming. While residing in her lair, a large cave with no exits, Orca took the form of a lake of smoldering tar.[2]

History

Orca was a human battlemage until at some point decades before Ramses Overdark encountered her when she transformed into a siege demon through unknown means. During the [[Madara-Edemi War]], when Lady Caleria rallied the Edemi Islands against the Empire of Madara, Overdark sent Lady Orca to terrorize the rebellious coasts. She did this under Tetsuo Umezawa's banner, for her master hoped the rebels would hold Tetsuo, his nemesis, responsible and would kill him. However, Tetsuo not only survived but beat Orca back to her lair, ending her siege.[2]

Several weeks later, the kentsu launched its attack against the Edemis and were running into trouble with an Akron Legionnaire. Lord Overdark offered his services and set Lady Orca against the giant knight. Orca was victorious but immediately turned on the kentsu. Overdark had ordered this as a diversion so his other minion, Jorgan Hage, could murder General Marhault Elsdragon and claim the title of general of the kentsu. Unfortunately for Orca, Tetsuo was among the kentsu forces, and he chased her back to her lair. By sending a bolt of black magic into the planet's core, he filled the cave with magma, destroying it and ending Orca's existence as well.[3]

Inspiration

Lady Orca was likely inspired by Lord Orcus, a demon of punishment and synonym for hell in Roman Mythology. The word orcus is thought to be derived from the English word orc.
